Mario is from France but spent the first 32 years of his life between Europe and South America.
Mario was shaped by and identifies as much with the universalism of the spirit of the Enlightenment and to the ideas advanced by the Republic of France as with the world view of the First Nations of Cusco and South America (the Andean and Amazonian cultures of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay and Argentina.). Over the course of his journeys and of his encounters, his discoveries have also led him to other worldly horizons such as Buddhism, Taoism, the Cabal and Sufism. Thus, he considers himself a Sapien, a humanist, above all, in search of the enlightenment hidden distinctly in every path to human wisdom. Likewise, in a time when the dialogue with nature seems so disjointed, he is impassioned by the functioning of the planet with an approach that can be summed up by the old adage: “Healthy mind in a healthy body and healthy body in a healthy world.”
Mario’s academic pursuits illustrates well his French and Peruvian roots. After primary studies in Paris and secondary school in Lima, he studied economics and local and sector-specific development at universities in Grenoble and Montpellier. Choosing Cusco as his home, he has worked for 20 years in Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina and Colombia on the question of local development and commerce in the agricultural, artisan and tourism sectors and the strategies of local and sustainable development.
Mario is also a travel chaperon. For 17 years he has guided groups throughout South America and Europe, for travellers from all over the world (tours in French, Spanish and English.) This would eventually lead him to Alyra Expeditions, with whom he has worked for 10 years.
Finally, like the rivers that feed the oceans, it was only natural for him to join Alyra Expeditions and adopt their philosophy, allowing him to accompany you and share his love for Sapiens in dialogue with nature, in all of its shapes, hidden in every one of us.
