Aldo, who, since the age of 17, has dedicated his life to tourism and has become an ambassador of an ethical form of it.
He studied tourism in Peru and began his career in the development of ecotourism planning. He often works in partnership with local communities.
Aldo also furthered his studies in environmentalism and, from 1998 to 2004, decided to become more specialized in the development of outdoor experiences. He decided then to work as an interpreter in Manu and Bahuaja-Sonene National Parks, which are located in the middle of a rainforest and considered some of the most biologically diverse sites on the planet.
In 2004, he began putting into practice the trips he had designed . He also began accompanying travelers off the beaten path in various South American countries.
Now, in partnership with Alyra Expeditions, he’s designing ethically minded tours through northern Peru, an area that is still relatively unknown to travelers.
Aldo is also the founder and president of the Tumbes Tourism Board and is currently the public works manager for the sustainable development of tourism on the northern coast of Peru. Alyra Expeditions and Aldo Durand are working together to develop community projects and create authentic cultural exchanges between travelers and local communities.
